THE FINLET — MODERN TWIN FIN FISH
The Finlet is a modern twin fin fish surfboardinspired by the classic Steve Lis fish, updated for more responsiveness, control and everyday versatility. Its slightly narrower outline, pulled-in nose and refined tail maintain the fast, loose and skatey feel of a traditional retro fish while providing more control through turns and transitions.
We've incorporated a modern rocker and updated rails, giving the Finlet the responsiveness of a modern shortboard without losing its classic twin fin soul. A single-to-deep double concave bottom generates speed and control, while the fins are positioned slightly farther back for added drive and maneuverability.
The result is a fast, flowing fish surfboard that performs in everything from small everyday waves to clean, overhead surf. With generous volume and easy paddling combined with a more refined performance shape, the Finlet works for a wide range of surfers looking for the speed and freedom of a traditional twin fin with more modern control.

WHY THE FINLET WORKS
MODERN FISH OUTLINE
The Finlet uses the width and volume that make a traditional fish fast and easy to paddle, but with a slightly narrower outline, pulled-in nose and refined tail. This creates a more responsive fish that transitions from rail to rail more easily while maintaining the speed and flow associated with classic retro fish surfboards.
SINGLE-TO-DEEP DOUBLE CONCAVE
The bottom transitions from a single concave into a deeper double concave, helping generate speed while directing water efficiently through the tail. This combination gives the Finlet plenty of drive while adding control when the board is pushed through turns.
MODERN ROCKER
Traditional retro fish surfboards are known for relatively flat rocker profiles that generate tremendous speed but can feel limiting in steeper or more powerful waves. The Finlet incorporates a more modern rocker to improve maneuverability, fit more comfortably into the curve of the wave and expand the range of conditions the board can handle.
REARWARD TWIN FIN PLACEMENT
The Finlet's twin fins are positioned slightly farther back than on a traditional retro fish. Moving the fins toward the tail increases hold, drive and control while maintaining the fast, free feeling that makes twin fin surfing unique.
FIN SETUP
We recommend pairing the Finlet with our custom keel fin setups. Keel fins complement the board's wide, fast outline by providing drive, hold and speed while maintaining the flowing feel of a traditional twin fin fish.

WHAT SIZE FINLET SHOULD I RIDE?
5'5" — 31.3L | Suggested Rider Weight: 100–160 lbs
The smallest and most responsive Finlet. Best for lighter surfers or experienced riders who want maximum maneuverability and a more performance-oriented feel.
5'7" — 33.6L | Suggested Rider Weight: 140–190 lbs
A versatile option that balances easy paddling and wave catching with plenty of responsiveness. A strong all-around choice for surfers who want the classic fish feel without excessive volume.
5'9" — 36.9L | Suggested Rider Weight: 180–220 lbs
More volume and paddle power while retaining the Finlet's speed and maneuverability. A good choice for larger surfers or anyone who wants additional flotation and easier wave entry.
5'11" — 39.9L | Suggested Rider Weight: 185–240 lbs
The highest-volume Finlet, offering maximum paddle power, stability and wave-catching ability. Ideal for larger surfers or riders who prioritize extra flotation without moving to a mid length.
FINLET FAQ
What is a twin fin fish surfboard?
A twin fin fish is a short, wide, high-volume surfboard traditionally designed with two fins and a swallow tail. Fish surfboards are known for generating speed easily, paddling efficiently and creating a fast, flowing style of surfing, particularly in small to medium-sized waves.
How is the Finlet different from a traditional retro fish?
The Finlet keeps the speed, volume and flowing feel of a traditional fish but incorporates a narrower outline, refined rails, modern rocker, updated bottom contours and rearward fin placement. These changes provide greater control and responsiveness while expanding the range of waves the board can handle.
Is the Finlet good for small waves?
Yes. The Finlet's width, volume and efficient bottom contours help it generate speed and catch waves in smaller, less powerful surf. Unlike a traditional flat retro fish, its modern rocker and refined outline also allow it to perform when the waves become larger and more powerful.
Is the Finlet good for intermediate surfers?
Yes. The Finlet can be an excellent option for intermediate surfers because its additional width and volume provide easier paddling and wave catching than many traditional performance shortboards. More experienced surfers can take advantage of its speed, responsiveness and twin-fin performance.
What fins work best with the Finlet?
We recommend a quality twin-fin keel setup. Keel fins provide the drive, speed and hold that complement the Finlet's fish outline while preserving its loose, flowing character. Fin choice can also be adjusted based on rider size and the desired balance between drive and maneuverability.
Is a twin fin fish easier to paddle than a traditional shortboard?
Generally, yes. Fish surfboards typically carry more width and volume through their outline than performance shortboards, providing additional flotation and paddle power. The exact difference depends on the dimensions and volume of the boards being compared.
What waves is the Finlet best for?
The Finlet is designed as a versatile everyday fish and performs particularly well in small to medium surf where speed generation and wave catching are important. Its modern rocker, rails and fin placement also provide the control needed to surf clean, more powerful waves up to overhead conditions.
